Battalion bounces back from 3-0 deficit to force Game 7 in Oshawa

Game 7 awaits another hockey team in the GTA.
The Oshawa Generals will host an Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference championship-deciding clash on Monday at 7:05 p.m. at the Tribute Communities Centre after the North Bay Battalion marched its way to an 8-1 victory Sunday in Game 6 at North Bay Memorial Gardens.
The Battalion had fallen behind 3-0 in the series, but has won three straight games, including two in overtime, to stave off elimination.
Owen Van Steensel scored twice for North Bay, while Jacob Therrien, Brice Cooke, Justin Ertel, Liam Arnsby, Dalyn Wakely and Sandis Vilmanis each scored once.
Ben Danford replied for the Generals.
Noah Bender and Jacob Oster faced 34 shots in the Oshawa net and Mike McIvor turned aside 35 shots to record the win for the Battalion, which beat the Generals 10 years ago in the conference final in its first season in North Bay.
The winner of Monday’s game faces the London Knights for the OHL championship after Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan scored twice and assisted on another goal Sunday to dispatch the Memorial Cup-host Saginaw Spirit 4-2 in Game 6 of their series.
The Knights’ victory ended the prospect of a final between two teams with North Bay ties. The Spirit franchise moved to Saginaw, Mich., in 2002 after spending the previous 20 years in North Bay as the Centennials.
